What Volt does
Volt is an offline calculator for electronics bench work. It includes:
- Resistor colour code — bands to value and value to bands, for 4, 5, and 6 band resistors
- Ohm's law — enter any two of voltage, current, resistance, or power
- Voltage divider — output voltage from two resistors, or resistor pairs for a target output
- LED series resistor — resistor value and power dissipation from supply voltage, forward voltage, and current
- E-series lookup — nearest standard value in E12, E24, or E96
It works entirely offline and requires no account.
Common questions
Does Volt need an internet connection?
No. Every calculation runs on your device. Volt works in airplane mode, in a lab with no signal, anywhere.
Does Volt collect any data about me?
No. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no permissions requested. Values you enter are discarded when you close the app. See our privacy policy.
Why does Volt not save my calculations?
Deliberate for this version. Volt holds nothing between sessions. Saved history is on the list for a future release.
A result looks wrong. What should I do?
Please tell us. Email support@nordrift.dev with the tool you were using, the values you entered, and the result you expected. Calculation errors are the most important bugs we can receive, and we prioritise them.
Can I request a feature?
Yes. Email support@nordrift.dev. Pinout references, SMD code decoding, and series/parallel combination are already under consideration.
Is Volt available on iPhone?
Not currently. Android only.
Can I use Volt's results in real work?
Volt is a reference tool. Verify results independently before relying on them, particularly where safety, mains voltage, or regulatory compliance is involved. See our terms of use.
Reporting a problem
The more detail, the faster we can fix it. Where possible, include:
- Which tool you were using
- The exact values you entered
- What you expected, and what you got
- Your device model and Android version
- The Volt version number, shown on the About screen
